Microsoft Outlook Calendar 2-way integration
NetHelpDesk (NHD) has it's own integrated calendar feature, that allows you
to make appointments within tickets. Each Technician has their own NHD
calendar in the help desk software. These can be viewed separately, or collectively in a group NHD
calendar from the main screen.

The NHD calendars can then be integrated with an Exchange calendar on your
Exchange server, and links via an FQDN string. The FQDN can be either for
the Technician's own personal calendar, or a public calendar.
Within the ticket, all you need to do is add an action with the "planned
date" function toggled on. Enter in a date and time, and how long you expect
the appointment to take.
As long as a Technician is assigned to the ticket, NetHelpDesk then adds
this calendar entry to the Technician's NHD calendar. You can control what
information comes out of the ticket and into the NHD calendar entry via
a template.

At the same time, it will then inject that appointment to the specified
Exchange calendar, and all of the ticket data you specified as well.
When you sync your iPhone / BlackBerry / Android with your calendar
software, such as Outlook, your NetHelpDesk appointments are in with all
your other appointments.
Some great points to highlight:
|
|
|
|
|
| |
 |
If you update the calendar time/date in your Outlook
calendar, it
will update your NHD calendar. |
|
| |
 |
If you update the planned date in the ticket, it will then
update both your NHD & Outlook calendars. |
|
| |
 |
If you update who's assigned to the call, it will update
your NHD & Outlook calendars. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
One step better, NetHelpDesk updates the calendars intelligently!
|
|
|
|
| |
For example:
Support Person A has ticket [ID:012345] assigned to them.
They have a planned date, time and duration in that ticket to
visit the end user at their desk tomorrow morning at 11am for an
hour.
NetHelpDesk has injected that entry into the NHD calendar, and
also Support Person A's Outlook Calendar.
Later that day, A is assigned to another call
that will now take days to complete, and is no
longer available to complete the visit to the end user.
The call is then reassigned in NetHelpDesk from A,
to Support Person B. The planned date, time and duration remains
the same.
Now here comes the great part...
NetHelpDesk will then i) remove the entry from A's Outlook calendar,
ii) remove
it from A's NHD calendar, iii) adds it to B's NHD
calendar, and iv) injects that entry into B's Outlook
calendar.
