The site diagram screen shows all of the devices at a site and how they are
connected. Here is sample screen: Navigating around a Site You can navigate around the site by using several methods: Use the zoom in/out buttons on toolbar Click with the right mouse on a part of the window with no device. It will centre to that point. Click with right mouse on blank space and hold down. Move cursor and release after selecting an area. This area will fill the screen. The initial zoom level and position on the diagram is stored when a user exits the site. An option on the options menu allows you to either redisplay the diagram in the state it was last viewed or to make the diagram fit the screen. This is set permanently in the NetHelpDesk setup screen. Site Diagram Toolbar and Menu The toolbar enables the following functions: Fit to screen Zoom out/In Go to Other End Add device Add connector Delete Item Identify faulty Item Print Diagram Edit device details Edit device type details Show pictures and text files Toggle bitmaps List Non-diagrammed Devices - shows when there are any at the site Site history list - shows a list of sites you have seen since NetHelpDesk was started. The Menu bar allows the following extra functions: Edit Site details Edit Area details Enter new request for this site Create new Type of device grayed out - use main NetHelpDesk menu item File/New Type Replace one device with another type of device Clear Site history list - clears the history list box List devices at site Access a device - telnet, rconsole, ping Options: Show midpoints Show grid Snap to grid Force text to display Selecting and Adding Items The mouse can be used to select a device or connector at its midpoint. Use the options menu item to turn on the display of midpoints, if required. The selected device can then be moved. For connectors, the A-end device and then the B-end device are requested. Use the right mouse button to edit a device or use the toolbar edit device button. Connections can be added either by clicking in the centre of the device or by clicking at a point on the outline of the device. If the outline is clicked on, then the connection is made to that exact point. If anywhere else is clicked on, then the connection is made to the centre of the device. |
