In NetHelpDesk, you can import all of your existing data using our pre-formatted Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Some of these can be tailored to include the fields you need, using our Custom Objects features.
Go to \\..\NetHelpDesk\Win\importspreadsheets\ for these files. If you do not have letters in front of the spreadsheets, you may be using older formatted spreadsheets. New ones can easily be downloaded, to replace these. Click this link to download the latest spreadsheets.
The files have instructions on how to use them inside the documents. They also contain example data, which can be imported into the trial, to give you a bit more data to play with.
PLEASE NOTE: Please read the instructions inside each spreadsheet carefully. They contain important tips to get the most from the import facility, without experiencing any errors.
There are a lot of customisable fields that can be used in the imports too. Look for the green columns in the spreadsheets, which can be customised.
Go to the Tools ribbon in the main screen of NetHelpDesk, and select Import to see all of the latest options in the import facility.
Once the preformatted spreadsheets are populated with your data, select the relevant option for your import, and run a test first. This won't update your database, but checks for some obvious mistakes in the import spreadsheet.
We would also recommend breaking large amounts of information into smaller chunks, to assist with any error processing at the beginning. The imports can then be made larger as you move forward.
